Once you’ve escaped a detrimental, life-changing situation and have safely made it to the other side, you’ll never bee the same. And, this is a good thing. You will inevitably be stronger, braver, and wiser, and you’ll be much more likely to see the red flags of a potentially harmful situation moving forward. You will probably be on high alert for a while, though, and you will need to learn how to rein this energy in and use it for everything its worth rather than allowing total paranoia to take over. Part of doing this, it to make a point to tap into your own intuitive guide, get to know its power, and trust it to guide you in the right direction whenever you have a difficult decision to make.
Connecting with your own intuition and allowing it to guide you into beneficial situation and away from toxic ones will help you significantly in the post-trauma state. This new chapter of your life should be about healing and reestablishing a strong sense of who you are and what you want in life.
All too often, we fall so deeply into a people-pleasing trap, that we are unable to consider our own sense of self and realize that we need to understand our worth before it’s too late. Instead, we focus all of our energy on another individual, or other individuals, and this can be a recipe for disaster if this is part of a sadistic plan to render us completely submissive. This could have been what caused significant trauma in your life, and something you are determined to stay away from in this new phase.
Practicing mindfulness and taking the time to reconnect with your internal self will allow you to be better equipped to avoid reentering this trap. Understanding the intuitive powers within you will help guide you toward healthier and more productive ventures and people. Sometimes, no matter how good something seems on paper, you have a gut instinct that something is just off, and this is a feeling you will need to learn to access more readily in the post-trauma state.
You have the ability to access your intuition and fine tune its abilities by allowing yourself to go inward and better understand your own inner workings and what makes you, you. But you must be committed to self-care and give yourself the needed space to do so. No matter how busy life gets, it’s important to find time for self-reflection, even if it’s just for a few fleeting minutes. Sometimes this is all it takes for your inner voice to tell you to slow down, you’re taking on too many things, you have too much on your plate. Sometimes this is all you need to realize you really are on the right path. You’re headed in the direction you’re supposed to be headed and you’re consciously manifesting your goals.
As you adjust to this new phase and make healing a priority, spending a few minutes here and there with your thoughts, eventually it will become second nature. If you are used to being constantly on the go with barely enough time to get through your daily checklist, it may take a bit longer. You may have to make some adjustments to ensure you’re doing what you need to in order to take care of yourself and ward off future trauma.
This is what should be at the very top of that list.
Getting in touch with and trusting your own intuition is part of pursuing sustainable healing. Understand your worth and make self-care a priority. It will change your life.
