When you start moving further along in the healing process, you are going to start viewing the world in a way that you perhaps had never considered before. You will take notice of things once unnoticeable, because when you feel at peace, you are no longer weighed down by the burdens of the everyday that tend to occupy your time to the point that they are all you can focus on.
If you choose to start each day with positivity – by reciting affirmations before you head out, waking up ten minutes early so you can ease out of bed rather than jumping off and taking off – this tends to have a domino effect. It starts small with the choice to be positive when you awake, but this choice ultimately carries into everything you’ll do throughout the day until your head hits the pillow once again at night.
One thing you’ll begin to notice is how interconnected everything really is. From this tiny vibration you send out in the morning passing through everything else you choose to do throughout the day, to the people, places, and things you encounter. You may even start to notice patterns, which is a clear sign you’re moving closer to a state of transcendence in which you will be unstoppable because nothing can penetrate the protective barrier you’ve placed around yourself.
There is power in this point along your journey. If you begin to notice interconnectivity, you’ve awakened to a state of coming closer into alignment with your authentic self. Sometimes those who have reached this state start to see patterns in their day-to-day such as noticing someone’s name come up three different times in three different places or interactions. You may begin to notice number sequences such as 11:11, 12:12, 1:11, 2:22, etc. These have different meanings to different people, and if it starts to happen to you, do some reading to discover why they could be showing up you. Some say they have spiritual significance.
Whatever it means for you, the interconnectivity will no doubt be apparent in some way. Everyone’s journey is different, and the healing journey is lifelong. There are certain milestones in the healing process that are relatively the same though, and they are similar to those in the grief recovery process: shock and denial, pain and guilt, anger and bargaining, depression, reflection and loneliness, the upward turn, reconstructing, acceptance and hope.
You cannot expect to breeze through emotions this significant. These are life-altering emotions that naturally, and often sequentially, are felt after traumatic events. Escaping trauma was not easy, making it to the other side in one piece was not easy. So, it goes without saying that the rest of the steps will be just as transformative as well and making it through each is a significant milestone.
Don’t be too hard on yourself. The fact that you are online looking for ways to recover from trauma is an infinitely wonderful sign. It means you want to better your life. You want to find happiness again.
There are many support groups and professionals willing to help you every step of the way. Reach out for help, and make sure you keep your personal support system close as well. You don’t have to do this alone.
When you start to notice you’ve hit that upward turn, stop a moment to r/eflect on how far you’ve come. You made a commitment to yourself to move forward and enjoy life and that is something to be proud of.
Break the silence, break the cycle.
