When you become focused on your own personal wellness, you’ll start to notice subtle, positive changes that, with time, become more profound and beautiful.
But, what does it mean, exactly, to be “focused on wellness?” What, specifically, should we pay attention to and work on to become ‘well’?
There are certain areas we need to give energy to in order to promote self-wellness. These are the physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, social, and occupational pieces of self. Let’s take a closer look at each.
Physically, we need to concentrate on building strength and vitality, promoting total body health and wellness through exercise, meditation, and eating right. Our bodies are vessels we use to communicate who we are and our mission. The body helps us to communicate effectively when we help keep it healthy.
Our mental health and intellect also need to take precedence. We need to constantly sharpen our intuition and creativity and restore balance in the mind, so we can steer clear of anxiety attacks, low mood or mood swings, or overwhelming mental stress. We need to take on activities that activate the mind and keep it stimulated, which we enjoy rather than only those things we do out of obligation.
Emotional stability and inner peace is key to maintaining positive connections with others and understanding how we react to certain situations. By becoming more in tune with our emotional reactions, we garner a better understanding of what makes us happy, sad, angry, or fearful, and we can welcome those things that stimulate positivity. We can better protect ourselves against energy that depletes us and leaves us feeling empty, and we can develop self-control, self-esteem, and a sense of direction.
Speaking of connections with others, we need to maintain our social health, securing a solid understanding of how we interact with and contribute to our environment and community. We need to ensure we are attracting fruitful connections while letting go of toxicity and those associations that drain us.
We need to be spiritually connected, understanding internal drive and influences. How does the spirit guide us, helping us to be more intuitive and to know which direction to take? How can we give thanks for the blessings afforded to us? How do our morals and values, religious affiliation, and cultural background affect the way we live our lives?
When we become more in tune with our physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual capabilities, we can pursue occupational health by working toward career passions and aspirations. We won’t let nay-saying stop us from going after our dreams. And, we will build others up and view them as cohorts in our journey rather than the competition. We will build occupational community with like-minded individuals who are striving, too, for self-betterment.
These are the areas in which we need to develop and sustain wellness – each piece of our intricate selves – so we can live fully and love wholly. We can appreciate life’s blessings because we become witness so these things when we spend the time working on ourselves and concentrating on self-care.
When you become focused on total body wellness and begin to really hone in on each area, the positive changes will be profound. You may feel like you’re alive for the first time ever, like you’ve been given a second chance to live.
There’s really no way to describe how this feels. You just need to feel it.
